Day 6 - Our last day on the island with still a lot to see, do and experience.

After breakfast, we departed Kingscote and took a scenic drive to Penneshaw via American River and picturesque Pennington Bay.

Our short stop at American River allowed passengers to walk over to ‘the shed’ to see where locals are building a replica boat that sailed into American River.

We visited KI Artworks Gallery and viewed prominent local art works and crafts   with many passengers taking home some lovely treasures.  Some passengers took a short walk down to Baudin Beach to see the monument to the explorer Nicolas Baudin.

Day 5 - A wonderful surprise breakfast for all of our guests this morning. The amazing staff at the Kangaroo Island Seaside Inn set up a fabulous breakfast (including pancakes) at Reeves Point, right on the Nepean Bay.

A perfect morning, our passengers just loved having breakfast overlooking the water and having time to wander around the park where the first settlers arrived on Kangaroo Island.

The colony was established at Reeves Point, Kingscote on 27 July 1836, as South Australia’s first official European settlement.

Pictured is the wonderful staff from the Seaside Inn who really looked after us all and ensured we all had enough of the yummy breakfast.

Also featuring in the photos is Alex Schumann who is the Manager of the Seaside Inn and known as ‘eye candy’ to the girls in the photo!

The other popular man on our tour was Glen Willson, our Sealink driver extraordinaire, whose family has a long history on the island and is pictured here with ‘the cheeky girls’.

Day 5 - We continue on to our visit to South Australia’s first sheep dairy and cheese factory - Island Pure Sheep Dairy, where we witness sheep being milked and taste some of their world class dairy products.

To complete the day, we enjoyed tasting the various spirits produced at KI Spirits who have just won the prestigious title of Best Gin in Australia.

Day 5 - We then travel to Clifford’s Honey Farm, home to the only pure strain of Ligurian Bee in the world where we learn about the interesting life and work of these rare honey bees. Many of our passengers enjoyed Jenny’s homemade honey ice-cream - yum!

A delicious BBQ lunch will be ready for us at the Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery followed by a tour of the distillery where they manufacture 100% pure Australian Eucalyptus Oil.

We enjoyed a brief photo stop at Duck Lagoon surrounded by many very old but beautiful gum trees.

Day 5 - After a great breakfast we travelled west to Emu Bay with its small jetty, dating back to 1918 and renowned for its beautiful 4 kilometre beach.

Our travels continued on to include a visit to the Old Wisanger School, officially opened in 1885 and provided continuous schooling to the community until the opening of Kingscote Area School in 1945.

Travelling just along from Wisanger we were surprised to see a castle in the middle of no where. This is Georges Castle at Turners Homestead and is open to the public.

Day 4 - What a wonderful way to complete a fabulous day, Kangaroo Island Seaside Inn arranged our dining tonight outside, on the lawns out the front of the hotel, overlooking the calm waters of the bay.

It was a perfect night, a banquet BBQ, enjoying a fantastic array of seafood, various meats and a delicious selection of salads. This was followed by a decadent  chocolate dessert - our passengers thoroughly enjoyed being very spoilt by all of the absolutely amazing staff at the the Seaside Inn.

A beautiful sunset that night, the photo taken from my room (and the same view from all rooms) overlooking the Nepean bay.
