Our last night on the Pride of America we celebrated June & Colin’s 30th Wedding Anniversary. The crew sang a lovely congratulatory song (”Let me call you Sweetheart”) to the happy couple and the chef made them a lovely ‘strawberry’ (their favorite) and chocolate celebration plate which they enjoyed back in their cabin with champagne.

The next day back in Honolulu, our farewell dinner was held at the Lobster Place where we all thoroughly enjoyed our seafood dinners and drinks. A wonderful night to celebrate together, a fantastic tour and cruise - everyone had such a great time.

The trip to the Waimea Canyon was a real WOW moment - an absolutely breathtakingly beautiful sight (similar to the Grand Canyon) - a real must see. Jim, Stephanie, Robi and I really enjoyed our time at the Canyon.

The island of Kauai has chickens roaming freely throughout the island - this wonderful rooster showed us colorful plume of feathers but also guarded his hens and chickens enjoying the lush green lawns.

Many passengers bought some fresh fruit from the local stand at the Canyon especially fresh coconut water.

Our ship had to dock out in the bay of Kona and the ships tender boats ferried us all to shore.

We took the local bus tour around the town of Kailua and to many of the local sights and markets. It was easy walking around the interesting town, shops and markets.

We visited the first church erected on the islands, established in 1836, built out of local stone and timber with volcanic stone fence at the entrance.

Across the road from the church is another one of King Kamehameha historic homes, the Hulihe’e Palace.

One of the residents elaborate gates of their home, depicting all of the sea creatures of the area, certainly worthy of a photo!

All aboard the magnificent Pride of America ship as we sail out of Port of Hawaii on our 7 day cruise of the beautiful Hawaiian Islands.

Our first stop is to the picturesque island of Maui for 2 nights.

On board the ship our passengers enjoyed all of the abundance of food on offer at the many restaurants and beautiful scenery.   Diane and Barbara relaxing over a sumptuous breakfast one in the restaurants and Colin and June enjoying their breakfast out on the deck taking in the surrounding views.

Robi relaxing on her balcony cabin and the Ship docked at Kahului, Maui.

Our visit to King Kamehameha statue that honors the monarch who founded the Kingdom of Hawaii surrounded by the lovely gardens and stands prominently in front of Aliʻiolani Hale in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Across the road from his statue is his ʻIolani Palace’ which was build as a tribute to King Kamehameha and to be the destination of the statue.

Some of our group tried the ‘world famous Hawaiian hot dog’ - yum yum!

After watching a very moving but informative documentary film on the attack of Pearl Harbor on the 7th December, 1941, we were transported over by boat to the magnificent USS Arizona Memorial built over the sunken ship.

Pearl Harbor is still a working navel base showing one of the many navel ships in the harbor.

The names of all of the crew entombed in the attack and the survivors who have since passed away and have requested joining their shipmates below, as their resting place.

Some of the moorings and funnel that are still left and visible, as a memorial can be viewed from the platform. This is a very moving and wonderful tribute to the many men and women that gave their lives in action.

There is a Museum, museum shops and many self-guided exhibits located throughout the Visitors Center and park grounds to visit.
